Maureen Cavanagh
Maureen Cavanagh is currently a photo editor for the New York Times. She is formerly the creative director of Derek Jeter’s Players’ Tribune and was deputy photo editor at Sports Illustrated where she ran the baseball photo coverage for 8 years. Cavanagh is also on the Board of Directors of the Doug Pensinger Photography Fund, a nonprofit that provides career development to young sports photographers.
Cavanagh is the recipient of 2 POY’s for photo editing, both for baseball-related coverage, and has researched and photo edited over a dozen MLB coffee table books. She also created and runs the Women in Sports Photography instagram account.
She has a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University and a BA in Photojournalism from Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Communications.
On weekends she and her husband drive their 4 kids -and sometimes their dog - to various sporting events in a very messy minivan.
