Categories

Portfolio (20 photos maximum): A diverse collection of images demonstrating a photographer’s skill range covering the sport of baseball over the course of a year. Employees of baseball clubs or leagues (any level of play) are excluded from this category.

Team/League Photographer Portfolio (20 photos maximum): For employees of baseball clubs or leagues (any level of play). A diverse collection of images demonstrating a photographer’s skill range covering the sport of baseball over the course of a year

Action: A single image depicting peak athletic ability

Feature: A found moment around the game of baseball that is not game action 

Story (20 photos maximum): A sequence of images that tells a story related to the game of baseball

Portrait: A single image, candid or posed

Emotion: “The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat”: A single image that captures the elation of winning, the sadness of losing, or the emotion found in the game of baseball

Amateur: A single image featuring the game of baseball at the amateur level. This may be an Action or Documentary image (Open to all MiLB, Independent Leagues, Collegiate, and Youth)

Student: A single image submitted by a current student of baseball at any level

FAQs

How long is the contest open?

The 2024 PBPA contest will run from January 31, 2025 until February 24, 2025. There will be no exceptions to this deadline and no extensions to the length of the contest. Winners will be announced the first week of March.

Who can enter the contest?

Anyone over the age of 18 can enter - both members and non-members alike. Members have free entry and non-members will have to pay a $35 submission fee. The Student and Team/League Photographer Portfolio categories are the only ones with eligibility requirements or limitations.
